A Beekeeper's Dream Come True: Viorel's Incredible Day Among the Bees! Plus, as a bonus, an Asian hornet hunter!
Partager
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to spend a day in the shoes of a beekeeper, surrounded by the constant hum of thousands of bees? For Viorel, this dream became a magnificent reality, all thanks to a memorable gift from his friend Jessica! We are thrilled to tell you how Viorel, from the Pasteur Medical Group in Luxembourg, experienced a total immersion into the fascinating world of beekeeping during our exclusive beehive visit in Luxembourg-Cents.

A Complete Immersion: More Than Just a Visit
Forget classic guided tours! The experience Viorel had was a true introduction to beekeeping. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed and equipped with a complete beekeeper's outfit: jacket, gloves, and protective veil. The excitement was palpable in his beekeeper suit!
At the Heart of the Hive: Discoveries and Wonder
Under Geoffroy's watchful supervision, Viorel was able to approach the hives in complete safety. He learned to:
- Identify the different members of the colony: the majestic queen, the hardworking workers, and the devoted drones. Each role is crucial for the hive's survival!
- Understand the complex social organization of bees, a model of efficiency and cooperation.
- Observe the meticulous work of building wax honeycomb and storing honey.
- Discover the life cycle of these extraordinary insects, from egg to adult bee.
- Mark a queen, as one of our hives decided to renew its queen, we applied the blue color to the new 2025 queen.
Secrets of the Hive: A queen marking for his debut
The highlight of the day? The queen marking! Viorel had the unique chance to mark a queen. He was able to identify the new queen among the 50,000 workers and add the blue color to make her easier to spot.
Viorel, the Asian hornet tamer
During this summer period, our hives are currently surrounded by Asian hornets. The presence of this invasive species is a problem for the survival of our hives. Thanks to Viorel's skill, we captured 5 hornets during our session (a drop in the ocean compared to the number of hornets in Luxembourg).
A Gift That Buzzes
The gesture from Jessica, Viorel's friend, is proof that the best gifts are those that offer an unforgettable experience and make a dream come true. Giving a day of beekeeping is much more than just a physical gift: it is the promise of a unique connection with nature, fascinating learning, and everlasting memories.
